Dr Timothy Piatkowski studies the growing use of substances taken to improve appearance, performance and health, such as steroids and peptides. These substances are spreading rapidly through social media and online markets, yet research, healthcare, and regulation have struggled to keep pace. This leaves people without reliable information and clinicians without the evidence needed to provide safe, effective care.
Dr Piatkowski’s research tracks emerging enhancement drugs, tests what’s actually being sold, and works with people who use these substances to develop practical harm reduction strategies and programs. His goal is to generate evidence that helps clinicians, policymakers, and the public respond to new enhancement drug trends before they become larger public health problems.
