Dr Xiaolin Wang is tackling one of clean energy’s biggest challenges – how to store and transport fuels like hydrogen and natural gas safely, affordably, and efficiently. Current methods can be risky, costly, or waste large amounts of energy, making it harder for clean energy to replace fossil fuels. Without better solutions, achieving net-zero targets and building a reliable, sustainable energy future for homes, transport, and industry will be far more difficult.

Her research develops innovative ways to store and move these gases by transforming them into a solid-like form called a hydrate. Hydrates can be stored at lower pressures and milder temperatures, making transport easier, safer, and less expensive. She also works on improving heat management in energy systems, helping make clean energy more practical, reliable, and ready for everyday use.
